Industrial Attachment is a mandatory part of every student’s program at Accra Technical University (ATU). It helps students apply classroom knowledge to real industry experience and prepares them for the world of work.

To successfully complete the program, every student must submit an Industrial Attachment Report.
Below are the official guidelines on how to write and present it properly.
Structure of the Report
Your attachment report should be neatly arranged in the following order:
A. Preliminary Pages
These come before the main report.
- Cover Page
- Accra Technical University
- Department name
- Title of report
- Student’s full name
- Index number
- Name and address of organization
- Period of attachment (e.g., June–September 2025)
- Submission month and year
- Declaration
- A statement by the student confirming that the work is original.
- Certification
- A signed page by both your industry and departmental supervisors confirming the authenticity of your work.
- Dedication (optional)
- Short note dedicating the report to someone special.
- Acknowledgement
- Briefly thank your supervisors, company staff, lecturers, and family.
- Table of Contents
- List of chapters and page numbers.
- List of Figures/Tables (if applicable)
Main Body of the Report
Your report should be divided into clear chapters or sections.
CHAPTER ONE – INTRODUCTION
This chapter introduces your attachment experience. It should include:
- Background and purpose of the attachment
- Objectives of the attachment
- Duration and period
- Overview of the company/organization
- Organizational structure (a simple chart or description of departments)
- Department/unit assigned to
CHAPTER TWO – DESCRIPTION OF WORK DONE
This is the most important part of your report. It should explain:
- The specific duties and tasks you performed
- The tools, machines, or software you used
- The projects you worked on
- How your classroom knowledge was applied practically
- Any new technologies or systems you were introduced to
(Write this section in past tense — for example, “I assisted in configuring routers,” not “I assist.”)
CHAPTER THREE – SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE GAINED
List all the new skills and experiences you gained during the attachment.
This may include:
- Technical Skills: Programming, database management, networking, maintenance, etc.
- Soft Skills: Communication, teamwork, time management, leadership, and adaptability.
CHAPTER FOUR – CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED AND SOLUTIONS
Every attachment comes with challenges.
In this section, describe:
- Problems or difficulties you faced
- How you solved them or handled them
- Suggestions for improvement
CHAPTER FIVE – CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter summarizes your experience and provides suggestions.
Include:
- Summary of what you learned and achieved
- How the attachment helped your career development
- Recommendations to:
- The organization
- The university
- Future students
Appendices
Attach relevant supporting documents:
- Weekly or daily logbook summary
- Pictures of you at work (optional but encouraged)
- Copy of supervisor’s assessment form
- Screenshots or reports from your projects (if allowed)
Formatting Guidelines
To maintain a professional and uniform look, follow these ATU formatting rules:

Writing Tips
- Use simple and clear English.
- Avoid plagiarism — report your own experience.
- Be factual, not fictional.
- Use past tense throughout.
- Proofread carefully before submission.
- Ensure your industry supervisor signs and stamps your report.

Submission
After completing your report:
- Print and bind your report neatly.
- Attach your logbook and assessment form.
- Submit to your departmental office before the deadline announced.
