A sad incident has been reported at the University of Cape Coast after a Level 200 student lost his life in a road accident on campus.

The deceased, Kweku Mensah, was studying Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) at the university. The accident happened on Thursday, March 5, 2026, around 3:00 p.m. on the stretch between the Amissah-Arthur Language Centre and the Sandwich Lecture Theatre.
Information from campus sources says the student was riding a motorcycle to Oguaa Hall to pick up his student ID card for an examination when the motorcycle reportedly collided with an Ayalolo bus.
He was quickly rushed to the UCC Hospital for treatment, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead after doctors tried to save his life.
The case has been reported to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department for investigation. His body has been placed at the UCC morgue while the family has been informed.
The management of the University of Cape Coast has expressed deep condolences to the family, friends and the entire university community over the painful loss.
Reacting to the news, I Richmond Bediako, a student leader at Accra Technical University, will like to advised students to be careful on the road.
“This is very painful news for the student community. My condolences to the family and the entire UCC community. I encourage all students to be careful on the roads and always put safety first,” he said.
