Accra – University of Ghana – The long-awaited results of the 2025 University of Ghana Student Representative Council (UGSRC) runoff elections are out, and Larbi Ofori Richmond and Gyampo Ayeh Ebenezer Derrick have been declared winners of the presidential race.
According to official figures released by the SRC Electoral Commission, Richmond and Gyampo secured a commanding 16,074 votes out of 25,429 valid ballots cast, representing 63.2%. Their closest contenders, Evander Kofi Akrasi and Michael Fareed Yeng Anwar, polled 9,355 votes (36.8%).

The runoff was necessitated after the first round of elections failed to produce an outright winner, as no candidate met the 50% plus one constitutional requirement. Today’s vote, however, delivered a decisive outcome.
The total voter turnout for the runoff stood at 25,429 out of 59,460 registered students, a participation rate of approximately 42.8%.
Following the declaration, the Electoral Commission praised the student body for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the process and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency.
In their acceptance remarks, Richmond and Gyampo expressed deep appreciation to students for their trust:
“We are grateful to every Legon student who stood by us. This victory belongs to all of us, and we will not take your confidence for granted. Together, we shall build a stronger SRC that puts students first,” they said.
With this resounding win, the Richmond–Gyampo administration will lead the University of Ghana SRC for the 2025/2026 academic year, taking over the Union Building to spearhead student governance and welfare initiatives.
Observers note that the wide margin of victory highlights strong student support for the duo’s vision and policies, setting the stage for what is expected to be an impactful tenure.
