UENR Crowned Champions of GUDC 2025 at Accra Technical University

The Ghana Universities Debate Championship (GUDC) 2025 has drawn to a triumphant close, marking the end of an intellectually stimulating week at Accra Technical University (ATU). The grand finale was celebrated in style with a Dinner and Awards Night, where excellence, eloquence, and intellect took center stage.

Emerging as the Overall Champions of this year’s competition were Amankwaah Dennis Boateng (Electrical Engineering) and Akomaning Godfred (Petroleum Engineering) from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR). Their remarkable consistency, analytical depth, and teamwork distinguished them throughout the tournament, earning UENR the prestigious national title.

Hosted by Accra Technical University, GUDC 2025 made history as the first edition to be hosted by a technical university, attracting 14 leading institutions from across the country. Over several rounds of rigorous debate and public speaking contests, participants demonstrated exceptional mastery of argumentation, research, and presentation skills, addressing issues of both national and global relevance.

The championship featured a series of competitive and social highlights — including the much-anticipated Break Night at Laboma Beach and the elegant Dinner and Awards Night, which crowned an unforgettable week of intellectual engagement and networking.

At the closing ceremony, organizers and dignitaries commended the dedication of participants, the professionalism of adjudicators, and ATU’s outstanding hospitality in hosting one of the most vibrant and well-coordinated editions of GUDC to date.
