The 2025 Ghana Universities Debate Championship (GUDC) concluded in grand style at Accra Technical University (ATU) with a spectacular Dinner and Awards Night, celebrating a week of passion, intellect, and spirited competition.
This year’s championship was historic, as ATU became the first technical university to host the prestigious national event, bringing together 14 leading universities from across Ghana for rounds of engaging debates and compelling public speaking contests.
After several days of intense intellectual battles, the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) emerged as the Overall Champions of GUDC 2025. Representing UENR were Amankwaah Dennis Boateng (Electrical Engineering) and Akomaning Godfred (Petroleum Engineering), whose exceptional teamwork, sharp reasoning, and eloquence propelled them to the top. Their consistency and command of diverse topics throughout the tournament earned widespread admiration from both judges and peers.

UENR’s dominance extended beyond the main category, as the university also clinched the Novice Championship. Karen Nana Akua Adjeiwaa, an Information Technology student, delivered a remarkable performance that showcased confidence, clarity, and poise — qualities that earned her the title of Novice Champion of GUDC 2025.

The week-long championship featured multiple rounds of debate and public speaking, alongside social events that strengthened camaraderie among participants. Highlights included the Break Night at Laboma Beach, a lively evening of relaxation and networking, and the Dinner and Awards Night, which brought the competition to a fittingly elegant close.
Organizers and guests commended ATU for its outstanding coordination and hospitality, noting that the 2025 edition was among the most vibrant and professionally managed in GUDC history. They also praised the participants for their dedication to fostering a culture of critical thinking and public discourse within the university community. Congratulations to the University of Energy and Natural Resources — champions in both the main and novice categories
