The GUDC is Ghana’s premier inter-university debating tournament, organized annually to sharpen critical thinking, persuasive communication, and public speaking skills among students. For ATU, hosting this year’s edition is both an honor and a recognition of its growing reputation as a hub of academic and intellectual excellence.

A Word from the Local Organizing Committee

Dr. Martin Owusu Amoamah, Senior Lecturer at ATU and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, expressed his excitement about the historic milestone:

The Coach’s Perspective

Mr. Michael Koranteng, Committee Member and Coach of the ATU Debate Society, emphasized the opportunity this presents for ATU’s student debaters:
“For our debaters, this championship is more than just competition—it’s a chance to test their skills against the very best in Ghana. ATU’s location in Accra also gives us a unique edge, with participants gaining access not only to world-class debates but also to the city’s vibrant cultural and historic landmarks.”

A Celebration of Prestige and Culture

The central location of ATU in Ghana’s capital makes this championship even more rewarding. Beyond the debates, participants will explore Accra’s cultural gems, including the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Independence Arch, Labadi Beach, and the Arts Centre. This blend of intellectual exchange and cultural immersion ensures that GUDC 2025 will be one of the most engaging and inspiring editions to date.

As Ghana’s debate community prepares for this grand gathering of ideas and talent, ATU’s hosting of the GUDC not only elevates its own reputation but also cements its role as a pioneer among Technical Universities in Ghana.
