The event, held at the university‘s auditorium, brought together students, faculty, and industry professionals to explore innovative structural solutions using FRP.
Themed “Hybrid Approach in Concrete Reinforcement: Exploring Innovative Structural Solutions with Fiberglass Reinforced Polymers (FRP),” the lecture featured insights from renowned engineering professionals, including Mr. Ivan Romanov, CEO of VIVA FIBREGLASS.

Other notable speakers included:
- Engr. Prof. Amevi Ackapovi, Ag. Vice Chancellor of ATU
- Ing. Surv. Dr. Tina Wemegah, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, ATU
- Ing. Seth Bright Attipoe Denya, FChIE, CEO of Appro-Plan Consult & Former Chair of the Ghana Building Code
- Engr. Mark Nyameche, Lecturer, Civil Engineering Department, ATU
- Prof. Charles Bishop
- Ing. Kankam Euclid K. Nikoi
- CEO of Eudia Plus Engineering, KNUST Engineering

During the session, the speakers highlighted the advantages of FRP technology in modern construction, emphasizing its durability, lightweight properties, and resistance to corrosion compared to traditional reinforcement materials. The discussion also covered its potential to revolutionize Ghana’s construction industry, offering sustainable and cost-effective alternatives.
Students and faculty actively engaged in the lecture, with many expressing enthusiasm for the innovative possibilities FRP brings to engineering. The event provided a unique platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among key stakeholders in academia and industry.

This initiative reaffirms ATU’s commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical industry applications. By hosting such impactful events, the university continues to equip its students with cutting-edge insights to stay ahead in the evolving field of engineering.
