In a fiery piece titled “Where Are the Critics?”, Shalom E.A., who served as the Communications Officer of the 2023/2024 Students’ Representative Council (SRC) administration at Accra Technical University (ATU), has issued a scathing critique of the current SRC leadership and a popular student agenda group, SO SO AGENDA.
Shalom, known in official circles as Edmond, did not mince words in his poetic and politically charged submission. He called out what he described as the “hypocrisy” and “deafening silence” of individuals and groups that were once vocal critics of his administration.
“Where are the CRITICS?
The hoity toity noisy Hypocrites
Voices silenced, once loud and clear,
Last year’s critics, now in quiet sleep…”
His writing accuses former detractors—particularly celebrities within the student sphere and figures like Zacheus and his associates—of fabricating stories against what he terms the “Respectable TWINS” of the past administration. He implies that their earlier criticisms were motivated by agendas rather than truth.
According to Shalom, these once-fiery voices have been “bought” by the current SRC administration through positions and influence, rendering them silent in the face of what he believes is misgovernance.
“They have been paid by the SRC to be mute, they swallow their pride,
Positions offered by the SRC, their silence to abide.
The system feeds on their complicit might,
As they trade their voice for a fleeting light.”
The attack on SO SO AGENDA was especially pointed, as the former officer accused the group of being a “useless platform” that served only to amplify untruths against his administration, but has now gone mysteriously quiet when the current leadership allegedly shows incompetence.
In closing, he warned that “posterity will always be the judge,” suggesting that history will ultimately expose the truth and vindicate those who served with integrity.
This bold address has sparked discussions across campus, with students taking to various platforms to debate the legitimacy and implications of Shalom E.A.’s remarks.
Whether viewed as a whistleblower or a bitter former official, one thing is clear—Shalom’s voice has reignited a conversation many hoped had settled with the close of the last administration.
