Accra Technical University (ATU), one of Ghana’s 10 technical universities, has been a cornerstone of technical education since it gained university status in 2016. Originally founded as a technical school in 1949, ATU has grown and evolved through various phases of its development.
At independence in 1957, the institution was renamed the Accra Technical Institute and later, in 1963, became Accra Polytechnic. It wasn’t until 2007 that the institution began offering degrees, further establishing itself as a premier technical education provider in Ghana.
Today, Accra Technical University offers a wide range of courses across disciplines such as business, engineering, and applied science. With a focus on practical, hands-on learning, ATU equips students with the skills needed to thrive in various industries.
The university also boasts a well-equipped library, providing students access to both physical and digital resources, enabling them to engage in research and learning with modern tools and materials.
As a technical university, ATU continues to play a vital role in shaping Ghana’s technical workforce, empowering students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the country’s growing industries.
