Accra Technical University: a hub for technical education since 1949

(), one of Ghana’s 10 technical , has been a cornerstone of technical education since it gained status in 2016. Originally founded as a technical school in 1949, ATU has grown and evolved through various phases of its development.

At independence in 1957, the institution was renamed the Accra Technical Institute and later, in 1963, became Accra Polytechnic. It wasn’t until 2007 that the institution began offering degrees, further establishing itself as a premier technical education provider in Ghana.

Today, Accra offers a wide range of courses across disciplines such as business, engineering, and applied science. With a focus on practical, hands-on learning, ATU equips students with the skills needed to thrive in various industries.

The university also boasts a well-equipped library, providing students access to both physical and digital resources, enabling them to engage in research and learning with modern tools and materials.
