Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has sworn in its new Student Representative Council (SRC) executives, with H.E. Lameck Sarfo taking the oath as the SRC President for the 2024/2025 academic year. The inauguration ceremony included the swearing-in of new parliamentary and SRC executives by the Judicial Committee (JC), following the dissolution of the outgoing parliamentary council.
In his inaugural speech, President Sarfo emphasized the SRC’s commitment to “all-inclusive governance,” pledging to be accessible, transparent, and responsive to the needs of every student. “Our duty is not just to represent, but to serve; not just to lead, but to listen. We are here to be your voice, your advocate, and your partner in creating a more inclusive, dynamic, and empowering environment,” he said.
Sarfo congratulated his fellow executives, calling them a “family, united in purpose” and dedicated to improving student life on campus. He reminded the student body, “Change will not come if we are waiting for somebody; we are the change we seek to see. Know that this is your SRC. We are here for you and will always be open to your concerns and feedback.”
After the new president’s address, the newly established parliamentary council held its first sitting, marking the start of the new administration’s work. Sarfo concluded, “Leadership is not about us, it’s about you, the students. Together, as a united front, we will make Kumasi Technical University a place we can all be proud of.”
The event featured speeches from university management representatives, who discussed the significance of student leadership in shaping the university’s future.
During his term, Sarfo’s administration, branded as “The Moon Agenda,” aims to prioritize inclusivity, transparency, and student engagement.
